Preserving Cultural Traditions: Our Celebration of ASHENDA Festival with the Children and Families We Support
ASHENDA is an annual festival celebrated by the people of Tigray, Ethiopia. It is a joyous occasion that brings together family, friends, and community members to celebrate and enjoy traditional music, dance, and food. Ashenda is primarily a celebration for young girls and women who dress up in traditional clothing and jewelry and participate in various cultural activities such as singing, dancing, and playing games.
At our nonprofit organization, we recognize the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural traditions, especially for those who have been forced to leave their homes and communities due to conflict and other challenges. That’s why we organized a special celebration of ASHENDA for the children and families we support in Sudan.
The celebration included traditional Tigray music and dance performances, as well as a feast of delicious Ethiopian cuisine. The children were also able to participate in traditional games and activities, including tug-of-war and sack races.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children and families to connect with their cultural heritage and feel a sense of community and belonging. We were thrilled to see the smiles on their faces and the joy that the celebration brought to their lives.
At our organization, we remain committed to supporting and celebrating the cultural traditions of the people we serve. We believe that by promoting cultural diversity and understanding, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate world for all.
